Whether change provides a new opportunity, a fresh perspective, or a shift in leadership, we are positioned to reimagine what is possible. Over the years, we have adapted, grown, and even reinvented ourselves, all in pursuit of better serving our students, our state, and the broader world. And now, with the recent retirement of Provost Anupma Prakash and the upcoming retirement of Chancellor Dan White, we find ourselves once again in a moment of transition. One that invites reflection and deep appreciation.

Madara Mason selected as director of Honors College

²ÊÉñix¹ÙÍø Vice Provost and Dean of the Division of Exploratory Studies and Academic Success, Trent Sutton, has appointed Madara Mason as the new director of the Honors College. Mason has served as the interim director of the Honors College since October 2024.

SMS authentication being removed from Duo MFA

As of June 30, 2025, SMS (text messages) will be removed as an authentication option within Duo MFA. This change is required to ensure all accounts are protected from SMS spoofing, a common vector for compromising accounts.

After more than 30-years of service to UAF, I have decided to retire as UAF chancellor. It is time for me to see where else my journey leads. Serving as UAF chancellor has been a challenging and rewarding time and one that I am incredibly grateful for. My last day as chancellor of UAF will be July 26, 2025. In the near term I will retain my affiliation with UAF through my faculty position in civil engineering. UAF faces headwinds, no doubt, but also big opportunities. This is indeed a unique time in our history and I am confident that UAF will thrive.

Honors House to close June 1 in preparation for move to Rasmuson Library
