Message from the Dean

Field season is now in full swing, with many of our faculty, researchers and students actively engaged in making new observations and creating new knowledge. This collective information is vital to the effective management and prediction of our marine and freshwater ecosystems. In this regard, it is worth bearing in mind the importance and legacy of work that began 65 years ago with the formation of the Institute of Marine Science. As always, please be safe in the field, and thank you for your important work, CFOS.

R/V Sikuliaq

Sikuliaq is underway for Dee Emrich’s (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) Ocean Observatories Initiative Station Papa 2025 cruise. Two projects are piggybacking onto the OOI Papa ship time: Andrey Sherbina’s (University of Washington Applied Physics Laboratory) Waverider project and Patrick Berk’s (NOAA) Papa project. Sikuliaq will return to Seward later this week and begin preparations for Drew Steen’s (University of Southern California) Enzyme Stability 2 cruise.
