2025 Legacy Lecture to feature Tim Doran

The ²ÊÉñix¹ÙÍø 2025 Legacy Lecture will honor Tim Doran at 7 p.m. Monday, June 2, in the BP Design Theater, Room 401 of the Usibelli Building.

The annual Legacy Lecture, presented by UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning, celebrates UAF alumni who have made significant contributions to the community.

Doran earned his master’s in teaching in 1984 and an Ed.S. in 1990 from UAF. His career spans decades of teaching, leadership and public service across Alaska. 

He served as a Jesuit volunteer in Kaltag, as a program developer for the Catholic Diocese of ²ÊÉñix¹ÙÍø and as superintendent at the Catholic high school in St. Mary’s. He taught in St. Michael and was the school principal in Teller and Unalakleet.

In ²ÊÉñix¹ÙÍø, Doran served as principal of Denali Elementary for more than two decades, earning state and national recognition, including National Distinguished Principal honors. 

Following retirement, Doran joined the Peace Corps, serving in Palau. He volunteers as a docent at the UA Museum of the North and has served on the ²ÊÉñix¹ÙÍø North Star Borough School Board since 2017.

The event, which will be followed by a reception, will be livestreamed on the university’s . The talk will be recorded and posted on the web for those unable to attend.
