The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education allows early-career innovators to mature early-stage advanced manufacturing innovations with potential for significant impact and applicability to the Alaska market.

With up to two years of funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing Office, you will have the opportunity to focus full-time on your advanced manufacturing idea, on research and development  collaborations with UAF and DOE national laboratory researchers, on entrepreneurial training and mentoring, and on building relationships with potential industry partners, investors and customers.

During the program, successful applicants will receive:

  • A competitive personal stipend ranging from $72,000-$110,000/year, based on academic level and experience.
  • A travel and training allowance of $15,000 per appointment period.
  • A health insurance allowance.
  • A relocation allowance up to $4,000.
  • Laboratory space and technical collaboration support from the University of Alaska ²ÊÉñix¹ÙÍø and a DOE national laboratory, and mentorship.
