BIO

Kate Modler is a research professional for ACEP. Based in Anchorage, Modler works with the Grid Edge team to complete projects designed to unlock distributed energy resources throughout the state. She has a particular interest in agrivoltaics, emerging solar technologies and electrified loads. She also has expertise in instrumentation and data collection strategies.

Modler was part of the 2023 Summer Internship cohort where she designed and studied a ground temperature monitoring system in Kotzebue, Alaska with her mentor Chris Pike.

Modler is originally from Colorado and completed her undergraduate degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning degrees in physics and quantitative energy systems. She is passionate about energy equity and learning as much as she can about Arctic communities.
